HOMILY FOR WEDNESDAY MAY 4 2022

Acts 8:1-8; John 6:35-40

The early Christians were not interested in picking up arms and returning the war against them. They buried Stephen; the first among them to taste the world’s rejection of Christ and His message, and scattered far and wide, taking the gospel with them (cf.Acts 8:1-8). Thus, persecution actually helped propagate, rather than hinder God’s word.

As Pope Francis said years ago in one of his homilies at mass, our lives as Christians must be characterised by a constant and consistent witnessing. It’s not enough to posit doctrines, and expound theologies, without actually SHOWING Christ to people in the manner of our speech and actions. We must come to Jesus, who is the bread of life. He assures us that He will never turn anyone away who seeks Him with a sincere heart (cf. John 6:35-40).

Prayer

Father, we thank You for this new day. Renew the zeal of faith in us, and may today’s challenges make us stronger and better Christians, Amen.

Good morning dear; God bless your day ahead.
