HOMILY:
(Lk. 14:1-6)
In the day’s Gospel Jesus knew the Pharisees and the scholarship of the law were watching Him closely regarding serving the Sabbath Law. Jesus obliged by confronting them about it. But they were afraid of Jesus for He had gathered so many following and sharp at His answers. So, Jesus further challenged them by curing a man who was sick with dropsy on a Sabbath day.

Jesus pointed out how was it that they would outlaw curing a sick person on a Sabbath but allowed to reduce a son or ox in danger? Clearly, they are applying the law wrongly.

This issue had occurred many times in the Gospels. It is a question of the essential application of the law given by God. As Jesus said, the laws were made the welfare of men and not vice versa. For how can a law, even by God, sacrifice the lives of His creation? It was not something foreign to the leaders of Jesus time for they knew what to do when one of their own was in danger.

Doing good is good in season or out of season. Loving, specially, knows no bounds. When we love, the Christian way, we can never go wrong. The key here is “the Christian way.”The Christian way” always seek the goodness of the other.
