HOMILY THEME: THE GLORIOUS COWORKERS, TIMOTHY AND TITUS

HOMILY:

No one survives alone. We all need friends, coworkers and colleagues. Are you a business man? You need associate(s) whom you share your passion and aspirations with. If you are an evangelist or missionary you need associate evangelists who will stand by your side in travailing and dry evangelistic seasons when despair is about to set in.

Paul who we celebrated yesterday is rightly called an apostle to the Gentiles because he worked in the Gentile world. Happy for him to have met people like Titus and Timothy who were Greeks. The grand mother of Timothy was Lois and his mother, Eunice (a Jew) were first to receive the Gospel ( 2.Tim 1:5) and offered Paul a warm hospitality which drew him close to Timothy. Timothy was with Paul when he worked in Corinth and was in fact the bearer of his letters. He was with Paul up to Rome during Paul's house arrest and he (Timothy) was later imprisoned in Rome too. He never left the side of Paul in those trying times. Titus together with Timothy were Overseers or Bishops of the Churches Paul founded.

St Paul's missionary activities bore abundant fruits both in planting of Gentile Churches and in administration because Paul believed in comradeship and mentorship. He was a trainer. He didn't just convert he as well trained people to oversee the Churches he planted which made him evangelize much extensive territories than any other apostle.

Paul's style of ministry is akin to that of Jesus in the Gospel of today who knew that He alone wouldn't reach much territories with His Kingdom Message chose 70 men among His disciples to go the places He was about to go making the work lighter for Him.

Dear friend do you believe in team work? Then you have the right spirit of achievement. With team spirit we can conquer territories. I wish you a blessed Friday!
