HOMILY OF THE 22ND WEDNESDAY ORDINARY TIME: YEAR A
HOMILY THEME: “To the other towns also I must proclaim the good news of the Kingdom of God, because for this purpose I have been sent.”
BY: Bishop Anthony Ewherido
The above statement is another testament that Jesus lived a purpose-driven life. He already declared his mission and purpose in the synagogue and followed through by make God, his Sender, present in the healings and exorcisms he performed. Many others would prefer to bask in the glory of the public acclaim of power and greatness, and just remain in a comfort zone while it endured.

The most successful and productive people in history were those who never settled for life in a comfort zone. Comfort zones breed mediocrity, sloth and false confidence. Jesus wanted his disciples (us) to know that our work is not done until we have made God present in every corner of the earth; every nook and cranny. As St. Paul glorified God for the show of faith by the Colossians, so must God’s name be glorified wherever God places us, through our commitment to our God-given purposes in life. The ultimate questions remain: why did God make me? Why did God place me where I am? What is the Lord asking of me? We humbly pray and ask for the grace and strength of the Holy Spirit so that we may never grow weary answering those questions by our lives and actions.
Lord, open us up to be where you need us always. Amen.
