HOMILY THEME: YOU ARE A SUPER STAR

HOMILY: Today we celebrate the feast of Epiphany, the manifestation of God to the gentiles represented by the three wise men (the Magi).

God revealed himself severally in the Old Testament to the Israelites through Abraham, Jacob, Moses, the prophets and through many significant incidents in their life as a people of God. But now he has made himself known beyond Israel to the whole world. God’s manifestation of himself to the gentiles was prophesied long ago through the prophet Isaiah: “The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned” (Is. 9:2). When Jesus was presented in the temple Simeon proclaimed him to be “A light to enlighten the gentiles and the glory of Israel” (Lk. 2:32).

The three wise men from the East were led by the star to Bethlehem where Jesus who is wisdom himself was born. Today, Jesus still wants people who are still far away to be led to him; no more by the star in the sky but by the star in each of us. We should be the star that leads several souls to. He commissioned us when he calls us “The light of the world”, like “City on hilltop”.  Nothing shines more brighter than a life of holiness, truth and charity.

You are a Super Star, Shine on!

Happy Sunday.
