HOMILY FOR TUESDAY OF THE TWENTY-SIXTH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR A.

HOMILY THEME:  SALVATION FOR ALL

BY: Fr. Livinus Igbodekwe

HOMILY:
(ZECH 8:20-23)
According to Isaiah 2:2,3, time comes when the mountain of the Lord shall be established as the highest mountain and all nations shall stream to it. The nations meant here are the gentile nations, those without God, without the commonwealth of salvation, those without circumcision of the flesh (Rom 2:28). This prophecy is reechoed in today’s first reading. It finds fulfilment in Christ who was raised up (Jn 8:28) for all that whosoever believes in Him shall be saved (Jn 3:16).

We are all called to be another ‘Jésus’ for all peoples through living the faith which we profess just as in the first reading which says that the Jews should decide to return to Yahweh and when they have started to return they shall not return alone but with many multitudes who would hold unto the helm of their skirts demanding that they be led to the Lord and God of the Jews and to worship in His temple.

Dear friends we are called to be soul-winners. Our decision to follow Jesus often inspire the decisions of thousands Who are not yet following Him. Once I was inspired by the passage in Isaiah 2:2-3, while in the Junior Seminary that made me promise God that I shall win thousands of souls before I die as a priest. This should be our singular motivation in our ministry : making those outside the faith to Come in. Shalom !!!
