Homily: Tuesday of the 29th Week in Ordinary Time. Year I.

WEDNESDAY HOMILY, 34TH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME - YEAR A

By: Rev Fr Oselumhense Anetor (Uromi Diocese)

Theme: The depth of grace!
Rom.5:12,15,17-21; Luke 12:36-38

In a homily, at a colleague’s funeral mass some years ago, an elderly man of God reminded us that we practice death whenever we go to sleep. The only difference is that we WAKE UP after some hours. Thus death is a lot deeper than sleep. We do not wake up from it. However, St Paul says that the life we have in Christ is a lot ‘deeper’ than death. It is a gift that causes everyone who receives it to reign in LIFE.

Friends, it is true that in our daily human struggles we are continually drawn into sin and death, but we must realise that just as sin reigned wherever there was death, so grace will reign to bring eternal life when we strive to live in righteousness through Jesus Christ. It is time to STAY AWAKE, dressed for action. For the master will come at a day we do not know; at an hour we do not expect. May Christ’s new life cast off the darkness of sin in our lives, Amen.

Good morning dear. God bless your day ahead. Please pray for the repose of the soul of Rev Fr Peter Udo Ebhota, as he is laid to rest today.
