Even in moments of physical frailty, Pope Francis remains a pillar of faith and resilience. As the Vatican confirms his ongoing battle with a polymicrobial infection and early-stage pneumonia, the Holy Father continues to find strength in prayer and the unwavering support of the faithful worldwide. Despite the toll on his health, his spirit remains unshaken, embracing each challenge with grace and gratitude.

Recent medical tests, including laboratory exams and a pulmonary X-ray, indicate a complex health situation for the Pope. He has been diagnosed with a polymicrobial infection, identified as bronchiectasis and asthmatic bronchitis, which has necessitated cortisone-based antibiotic treatment, complicating his overall care.

A chest scan, conducted under the supervision of Vatican medical staff and specialists from the Gemelli Polyclinic, confirmed the early stages of bilateral pneumonia, requiring additional medication.

As a result, Pope Francis has cancelled all his engagements for the upcoming weekend. Despite his condition, he remains in good spirits. This morning, he received the Eucharist and spent the day alternating between rest, prayer, and reading. He deeply appreciates the outpouring of support and, with a grateful heart, requests continued prayers.
