HOMILY FOR THE SECOND SUNDAY OF ADVENT YEAR B.

REFLECTION FOR FRIDAY OF CHRISTMASTIDE.

THEME: JOHN BAPTISES WITH WATER.

BY: SR. J. K. OSIYEMI, EHJ.

REFLECTION FOR JANUARY 6TH.

Mk 1: 6-11.

John who baptised Jesus was humble to acknowledge that Jesus was greater than him. Jesus’ baptism itself teaches me an example in humility. Jesus is the Word, the beloved, so listening to him will help me to sail through the year with confidence? When the heavens opened Jesus was confirmed as the Beloved. I also should open the door of empathy and understanding to those who come to me for help. Am I a good or bad listener? Do I also sometimes feel pompous and arrogant?

LET US PRAY
Lord Jesus, let the heavens open for me. Open the heaven to rain your mercy, love and favour one me. Let my innermost heart listen and hear you confirm me as your beloved child whose prayers you have heard and whose sins you have blotted out. May my own baptism make me to live and love as a child of God and a member of the Church should. Amen.
