HOMILY FOR THE 3RD SUNDAY OF ADVENT [YEAR B]

REFLECTION FOR JANUARY 2ND.

THEME: JOHN: A WITNESS TO JESUS

BY: SR. J. K. OSIYEMI, EHJ.

Jn 1:19-28.

Humility is a necessary ingredient for salvation. John knew this. He knew that his mission is to witness to the greatness of the Lord Jesus. He humbly told the people that he is not the Messiah. Am I simple and humble about my very own identity? Do I humbly accept my limitations and imperfection? Do I secretly desire to usurp another’s position? Do impersonate the identity of another and steal their power? Do I really know who I am? Who is Christ to me?

LET US PRAY
Lord Jesus, you are great and glorious, let my life be a witness to your majestic glory. Give me the humility to know that despite my giftedness I am not perfect. Remove lies and deceit from my life and teach me to be truthful about my personality. While I take responsibility for all my actions, help me to forgive myself when I do not get it right. Amen.
