REFLECTION FOR THE 20TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR C

THEME: THE TRUTH OF CHRIST MAY BRING DIVISION

REFLECTION FOR SUNDAY AUGUST 14 2022

Lk 12: 49-53.

With today’s gospel I am more convinced to hold on to my positive values despite the disapproval and frowning by colleagues, family and friends when I try to set things right according to Christian principles. The choice to follow Jesus is whole heartedly mine, and so I should be undaunting in my belief in him whose fire gives life and purifies my heart. Have I experienced a split in my close circle as a result of my conviction to follow a higher value? Do I support or oppose those who do God’s will?

LET US PRAY
Lord Jesus, you are the God of peace, you desire that we all live in total harmony and serenity. However, you also know the stark reality of the resistance that one may also receive from one’s inner circle in the bid to follow you. I therefore pray that you may live in the throne of my heart so that I can always follow you more closely. Help me to realize that my goals must remain strong against all oppositions. Kindle in me the fire of your love. Amen.
