REFLECTION FOR THURSDAY OF 22ND WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR I.

Lk 5: 1 – 11.

Jesus doesn’t want me to give up in despair. He wants me to make more effort, to try one more time. I ought to listen to him and obey his Word. I ought to know that only God can give success to the work of my hands. When I allow Jesus to take over the messy situation of my life, he turns things around in 360 degrees for my good. But if I act as if everything depends on my energy and intelligence, it will not be long before I go crumbling. Therefore, I should always invite Jesus into my activities, and ask him to take total control. It is good to sit down and write down the many pleasant surprising experiences the Lord has favoured me with in the past five years. Jesus wants me to follow him and be a fisher of men and women. Do I know that even those who are not as professional and experienced as I am can offer me brilliant ideas? Do I with faith and trust obey Jesus’ instruction as Peter did when he asks me to put out into the deep by taking the first step in reconciliation?

RELATED: HOMILY FOR THE 23RD SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR A

LET US PRAY
Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for surprising me daily with superabundant blessings and divine favour despite my sinfulness. Give me the humility to listen to the ideas of those I consider inexperienced. Give me a life changing experience of you as Peter had in the great catch of fish. May this experience propel me to ever seek to catch souls and draw them to you. Take me sweet Lord on a smooth journey to the deep and unknown place of my ideal self where I can discover the real meaning and purpose of life. Amen.
