REFLECTION FOR WEDNESDAY OF 11TH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME.

THEME: NO PARADING OF GOOD DEEDS.

BY: SR. J. K. OSIYEMI EHJ.

Mt 6: 1 – 6, 16 – 18.

I am not required to parade my good deeds or blow my own trumpet when I pray, fast or give alms. I do not need to announce or show off my spirituality and charitable acts. Is it a big challenge for me to be “incognito?” Do I feel offended when I’m not given public recognition for my kind works and contributions to community/ family/parish growth?

LET US PRAY
Dear Lord Jesus, give me faith to realize that you know and see all things, and that you reward justly. Help me to perform all my actions to please you, and you alone. Help me to know the difference between telling my story to inspire others and when I am sliding into the aggrandising pit of self-blow trumpreting. Rid me of the spirit of showing off, pretense and eye service. Amen.
