THEME: “REMAIN IN MY LOVE”

HOMILY: This is the 6th Sunday of Easter. Love runs across all the readings of this Sunday. Love is also the greatest commandment . Does it disturb you that LOVE is better pronounced than lived? More often than not people say “l love you” just on their lips but not from their hearts. St. John warns us: “My dear people, let us love one another since love comes from God” (1Jn.4:7-10). Do you believe this?

As human beings who live in this world, the love of God should reign in our hearts. Where there is love there God is found. Where there is love peace is there also. If there is no love we would have no peace. The Holy Spirit dwells where love exists. One who loves obeys God’s commandments. “God does not have favorites, but anybody of any nationality who fears God and does what is right is acceptable to him” (Acts 10: 25-26ff). Do you fear God?

Jesus says: “As the Father has loved me, so l have loved you. Remain in my love”(Jn.15:9-17). Yet, we fail to do what Jesus commanded us to do. Love is lacking in the entire world. The recent happenings in the world show that we have gone astray and need to come back to Jesus who says: “What l command you is to love one another.” May God blesss those who keep this commandment, amen. Happy Sunday.
