Signs and Miracles

The people of that time wanted signs and wonders. This was all they were interested in; the gospel of repentance did not appease to them.

The people of that time wanted signs and wonders. This was all they were interested in; the gospel of repentance did not appease to them. All they desired were miracles. And Jesus told them; He said that the only miracle they would be given is that of Jonah. That just as Jonah spent three days and three nights in the belly of the fish, so shall He spend three days and three nights in the depth of the earth Matthew 12: 39 – 40.

While a lot of Christians desire only miracles and wonders, Christ wants us to know today that there is a lot more to being a Christian than that. You could receive the miracle of healing today and still die in sin later. You could also receive the miracle of wealth today, and still fall into the sin of pride and selfishness. The things that matter are not miracles. What God wants to see is virtues.

Some other Christians have the talents to draw souls to God, however, just like Jonah, they shy away from responsibilities. God can never give us a cross that is heavier than us. He knows our full potential and gives us responsibilities based on that. Pray to God for the grace to live up to the potentials he has instilled in us.

Pray to God for the grace to encounter opportunities to be useful in the work of God. Work consciously towards being of help to others. Allow God use you for His divine purposes.

Don’t get carried away by signs and wonders performed in churches. Seek instead, truth and holiness of life. Focus on heaven and every other thing shall be added unto you. Matthew 6: 33
