SUNDAY HOMILY OF 30TH WEEK IN THE ORDINARY TIME — YEAR B

HOMILY THEME: GO; YOUR FAITH HAS SAVED YOU!

Jeremiah 31:7-9; Hebrews 5:1-6; Mark 10:46-52

OUR FIRST READING IS ABOUT GOD’S RESTORATION
In our first reading, God promises to bring back His people from exile. This is a message of hope and comfort. God sees the suffering of His people and plans to restore them.

LIFE LESSON FROM OUR FIRST READING
God’s restoration includes everyone, especially the weak and vulnerable. The blind, the lame, and those in distress are all welcomed back. This shows that God cares for everyone, no matter their condition.

OUR SECOND READING IS ABOUT THE COMPASSIONATE PRIESTHOOD OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST
Our second reading, talks about the high priest who offers gifts and sacrifices for sins. This priest understands human weakness and has compassion. Jesus is our High Priest who is merciful and loving.

LIFE LESSON FROM OUR SECOND READING
Jesus was chosen by God to be our High Priest. He offers himself as a sacrifice for our sins. This shows His great love for us and His desire to bring us closer to God.

OUR GOSPEL READING IS ABOUT FAITH AND HEALING
In our gospel reading, Bartimaeus, a blind man, calls out to Jesus. Despite the crowd trying to silence him, he persists. His faith leads to his healing.

LIFE LESSON FROM OUR GOSPEL READING
Bartimaeus’ story shows the power of faith. We are reminded to trust in Jesus. Our faith can lead to healing and new beginnings.

CONCLUSION
The readings of today, reveal God’s love and mercy. They show us how God listens to our cries and heals our brokenness.
We can find hope in this promise of restoration. No matter what we face, God is there to bring us back and heal us. We are called to have the same compassion as Jesus. Let us always reflect on how we can be more understanding and loving towards others. We can follow Jesus’ example of compassion in our daily lives.
