WEDNESDAY HOMILY FOR 31ST WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME (YEAR A )
THEME: LOVE IS THE ANSWER
By: Rev. Fr. Oselumhense Anetor (Uromi Diocese)
Rom.13:8-10; Luke -14:25-23
I believe you’ve heard of concupiscence. Yes! The ‘tendency’ to sin. Well, they say it’s pretty strong, and its pull almost irresistible. Look at our lives; see how difficult it has been to will the good at all times? See how we constantly have to struggle against human weakness in its many forms? However, we need not be discouraged. Love is the answer!

Genuine love for God and neighbour moves us to detachment. This is the ‘hate’ that Jesus mentions in today’s gospel reading. We become so focused on the interests of others that we almost forget about moral perversions, stealing, kidnapping, and other evil actions. We become so interested in the things of God, that we begin to accept gladly, whatever trials may come from having to follow Jesus. Friends, let’s pause a while. If it’s too difficult to act right, love may be absent, for love is still the answer!
Good morning dear. God bless your day ahead.
