WHEN THE COCK CROWS…

At birth, we were born with a crowing cock. We only become aware of the crowing of the cock when we attain the age of reasoning.
Ensuring the safety and nourishment of the cock in one’s life is essential. What role did the cock play in Peter’s life? I was reflecting on Peter’s denial of Jesus with relation to the crowing of the cock and got an understanding of the role played by the cock by its crowing.

When the cock crowed, Peter realized he had indeed denied Christ three times. The cock that crows in us is our conscience.
Has our cock ever crowed? Has our cock stopped crowing? Does our cock crow all the time? If our cock never crows, we may having been lying to ourselves. If our cock has stopped crowing, sin may have become our second nature.
If our cock crows all the time, our need for repentance is urgent. When the cock crows, its shrill drawn out cry is an announcement of one’s wrong and the expedient need for repentance.

The holy season of Lent avails us the marvellous and gracious opportunity to become saints in the Lord. May God help us to listen to voice of correct conscience so as not to perish in our sins (Amen).

Love.
