HOMILY FOR MONDAY OF THE 23RD SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

HOMILY THEME: BE A GOOD MAN

BY: REV FR LIVINUS IGBODEKWE

HOMILY: (LK 6:6-11)

If we all understood the fate of the wicked, we would be quick to forgive. Understand that holding a grudge in your heart for a person whether as a result of hurt, disappointment, pain, or whatever reason does us no good. It only reduces us to the same level as pagans.

HOMILY THEME: BE A GOOD MAN

BY: REV FR LIVINUS IGBODEKWE

HOMILY: (LK 6:6-11)
A good man remains good even when the seasons are not right. He is everywhere and every time good. He’s not good because people around him are good to him. He’s not good because he’s motivated by any religious obligation. He is simply a good man. Jesus is a good man because he does good even when some people around him are evil and have evil intentions for him. Though religious obligation forbids anything called work, even such mighty works like healings, yet Jesus still healed.

A good man is proactive and makes use of his initiative. He initiates goodness. The man with a paralyzed hand never came to Jesus explicitly to request for his healing. But he made himself available by coming to worship God that day. He came to the right synagogue where Jesus was the teacher. He saw the glory of God through Jesus. Some folks are in the wrong synagogues that doesn’t really deal with their spiritual needs and that’s why they never get cured. Jesus saw him and singled him out. He came forward and obeyed Jesus by stretching forth his hands and he got cured. Jesus is a good man by initiating a good to be done to the poor paralytic.

Let us learn these few qualities from our Good Lord and be able to affect the life of poor ones in our churches and society.
