BRIEF HOMILY FOR 13TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME – YEAR A

HOMILY THEME: THE REWARD OF THE PROPHET

BY: Fr. Emmanuel Nwokeji.

HOMILY: 2Kings 4:8-11, 14-16
Rom. 6:3-4,8-11
Matt.10:37-42

Every human being primarily bears the image of God. Wherever we are, we are God’s representatives. Therefore, whatever we do should be godly.

Elisha was a holy man. Always in contact with holy things. The Shunammite woman recognized what was in him and accorded him the respect and accommodation due to him as a prophet of God. In return, the prophet accorded her with the necessity due to her family.

God will always reward what we do. If you welcome a prophet, a man of God, a priest of God, a child of God etc. because he represents God, the reward due to his position which you cannot do will be yours. Also if you welcome false prophets knowingly be ready to take the reward due to them.

May God grant us the grace to immortalize our life with hospitality.
Happy Sunday!
