33RD SUNDAY HOMILY,  ORDINARY TIME - YEAR A.

YEAR A: HOMILY FOR THE 33RD SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

HOMILY THEME: The Parable of the Talent.

BY: Fr Emmanuel Nwokeji.

HOMILY: Prov.31:10-13,19-20,30-31. 1Thes.5:1-6. Matt.25:14-30.

This parable of the talent illustrates the tragedy of wasted opportunity. The man who goes on the journey represents Christ, the servants represent believers, while the talents represent responsibility. Faithfulness is what Christ demands of us. The man with five talents and the man with two talents received exactly the same reward, indicating that the reward is based on faithfulness, not on results.

All who are faithful as suggested in the parable will be fruitful to some degree.
When we accuse or condemn others for being wicked, let our actions not portrays wickedness. The evil we perceived in others, let it not be part and parcel of our existence.
May God grant us grace to take risk in spreading the kingdom of God on earth with our talents.

Happy Sunday!
Fr Emmanuel Nwokeji.
