HOMILY FOR THE SOLEMNITY OF ALL SAINTS DAY

HOMILY FOR THE SOLEMNITY OF ALL SAINTS

HOMILY THEME: All Hallow Triduum

BY: Fr Emmanuel Nwokeji.

HOMILY: Rev.7:2-4.9-14; Jn 3:1-3; Mt 5:1-12

Welcome to the ongoing All Hallow Triduum; Halloween (All saints’ eve), All Saints and All Souls.

First November is a celebration of the Saints, those people we believed are in heaven, through good works and God’s grace. They were saints not by processes beautification or canonization. These processes do not put one into heaven. Those who are there are there, and those who are not there are not there whether beautification or no beautification.

The Saints we celebrate today are those who do the Will of God and live a faithful ( not successful) life on earth in the midst of uncertainties. They were holy irrespective of the ups and downs in the earthly sojourn.

On All Saints’ Day, there is a call to live as Saints, to remind us on how we supposed to live.
Jesus is reminding us today in the Gospel ( Mt 5:1-12) on how to be counted among the community of Saints. If you wish to be as it pleases God, do the following:
Be pure in heart.
Be poor in spirit, that is without divine grace we can not achieve the Will of God.
Be meek and not weak.
Be among those with godly sorrow that produces repentance and leading to salvation.
Be among those seek God’s righteousness and not establishing their own righteousness like the Pharisees.
Be among those who are merciful in giving and accepting judgment for/from others.
Be among the peacemakers.
Be among those to be persecuted for God’s sake if need arise.
Happy Sunday?
Happy Feast of All Saints?
Happy New month?
Happy New week.
