YEAR A: HOMILY FOR THE SOLEMNITY OF JOSEPH, HUSBAND OF MARY (3)

YEAR A: HOMILY FOR TUESDAY OF THE 2ND WEEK OF LENT

HOMILY THEME: CAPTURING THE PROMISE

BY: Fr. Joseph Nyarko Asare,

HOMILY: 2Samuel 7:4-5, 12-14, 16/Psalm 89:2-5, 27, 29/
Romans 4:13, 16-18, 22/Matthew 1:16, 18-21,24

Minor steps of obedience based on faith in God is all we need to capture all the promises of God. Mostly, the voice is as simple as a whisper but, once we obey, we capture the best from above.

We celebrate Joseph, a humble, pious and simple man who hanged his identity from the carpenter to the earthly Father of Jesus and husband of the Mother of God. He had a simple message from God in a dream, obeyed without questioning and won the prestigious honor in the family of God. Joseph knew how to allow God to hold his hands so that, even with a closed eye, he could walk with God in absolute boldness and trust. Abraham and David lived with a similar attitude and won both Divine admiration and favour. They listened to God, hoped, trusted, obeyed, and acted accordingly.

As we celebrate Joseph, we celebrate God’s faithfulness. Let us learn to listen, hopefully trust and act. The future will be super glorious for us.

PRAYER POINTS

~For open ears to the Lord

~That we can trust the promises of God

~For obedient hearts
