HOMILY: MEMORIAL OF ST BERNARD ABBOT, DOCTOR
READINGS: JUDGES 6:11-24, PSALM 85, MATTHEW 19:23-30

As we begin this new day, I pray God to help us realize how important we are hence do our bit towards the realization of our dreams and the instantiation of Christendom here on earth. We pray for strong willed and valiant soldiers of Christ (in faith) like Gideon son of Joash. Moreover, we pray against the recalcitrance of the Israelites who persistently failed God even when he proved to be a merciful and forgiving God.

As this day begins, may we be docile to God’s call and allow him to use us as he pleases. Gideon never questioned God’s choice; he trusted him fully and indeed God was faithful to him. Also, we pray that God journey’s with us, accompanying us on our assigned tasks as he promised to be with Gideon. We further pray that we readily carry out the tasks God has allocated to us as parents, teachers, doctors, leaders, guardians, public servants etc.

As we start this day, may we realize that God can use the weakest persons, the most insignificant and littlest to accomplish his purposes in our lives. Moses, Joseph, Mary, and host of others were not from renowned backgrounds but God chose them. You can be little, weak, seen as insignificant, lowly etc but in the sight of God, you are great and can fulfill your destiny. Courage! With God, everything is possible!

As this day begins, may we consciously strive to dissociate ourselves from worldly gains and possessions and follow Christ wholeheartedly. That so, he will repay us a hundred times over now and in the afterlife. Furthermore, may learn to humbly, go about our tasks knowing that before God’s greatness, man’s might is feeble and completely insignificant.

As Tuesday commences, may St Bernard inspire us to serve God in purity of life, charity, prayer and Christian poverty. May he who was of noble birth but decided to shun riches and laxity in order to serve God better mentor and intercede for us now and always. Amen.
As we begin this God-given day, may we do our best possible to FEED AND EDUCATE THE HELPLESS POOR AROUND US. Amen.

A blessed Tuesday I pray…
