YEAR A: HOMILY FOR TUESDAY OF THE 2ND WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME
HOMILY THEME: GOD IS FAITHFUL
BY: Fr. Benny Tuazon
HOMILY: (Heb. 6:10-20) Tuesday of the Second Week in Ordinary Time
In today’s First Reading God’s faithfulness is stressed. He is one who would never miss and leave any good thing unnoticed and unappreciated. At the same time, He is faithful to His promise. He is God, remember? God is faithful, committed, and perfect. This, in spite of not having anyone above to take an oath. God is not governed by oaths. His promises and actions are beyond oaths.
The ultimate testimony of God’s faithfulness is in Jesus Christ. Salvation, the mother of all promises was fulfilled in His only begotten Son. God did it in a manner which nobody can deny nor take for granted. Nothing could stop Him from bringing into fruition His promises and plans.
The same still exists. God’s promises are realized one after the other since Creation. Foremost of which are His continuous creation, sustenance of life, unconditional love, everlasting mercy, and effective guidance. Always, from God’s end, His words become action. Jesus Himself assured us that, “For truly I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or stroke shall pass from the Law until all is accomplished.” (Mt. 5:18)
