YEAR A: HOMILY FOR TUESDAY OF THE 6TH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME

HOMILY THEME: DECIDING FOR GOD

BY: Rev Fr Joseph Nyarko Asare

HOMILY: Gen 6:5-8, 7:1-5, 10/Ps 29/Mk 8:14-21

In an environment polluted by sin, Noah remain exceptional and got saved. His uprightness and sacrifice saved him and ensured life for future humanity. Human life wouldn’t end because he chose to be different, he embraced the will of God.

Jesus counselled His disciples against the corruption of the Pharisees. The Lord expected His followers to be different. Like Noah, Jesus wanted the disciples to save their lives and future generations.

We have been called to remain in the vine, to be salt to the earth and light to the world, to be cities on the hill, to be the conscience of society, and radical followers of the values of the Kingdom. Once we do this, we have secured our lives and those of future generations. Whether this will make us acceptable to family or society is secondly. Ours is to please God and remain true to the end.

PRAYER POINTS

~That we will be faithful disciples to the end.

~For the courage to be different

~That our lives will give hope to future generations

(Rev Fr Joseph Nyarko Asare of the Catholic Diocese of Obuasi)
