HOMILY: “Vanity of vanities, all is vanity” says the teacher. If we brought nothing into the world, just as we shall take nothing out of it. If everything is useless, all our labours, endeavours, wealth etc. Then, what is the value of life?. The answer is: only God can give us happiness.
Thus, this is the point Jesus is making in today’s Gospel of Luke 12:13-21. Let the pursue of mundane things not block our view of the eschatological realities. Our happiness should not be “hic et nunc” (here and now) like the rich fool. Our earthly possession should be a means to achieve our end; that is to live happily with God in the next life.
As we remember God, our neighbors and family as our priorities against aggressive pronoun of “l”, “me” and “mine” may the expansion of our scope of abundance and business open the gate of eternal happiness for us after our earthly sojourn.
