YEAR C: HOMILY FOR THE 2ND SUNDAY OF ADVENT (9)

YEAR C: HOMILY FOR THE 2ND SUNDAY OF ADVENT

HOMILY THEME: A CALL FOR REPENTANCE

BY: Fr Emmanuel Nwokeji

HOMILY:

Gospel Lk 3:1-6

As it is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet:
“A voice of one calling in the wilderness, ‘Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for him. Every valley shall be filled in, every mountain and hill made low. The crooked roads shall become straight, the rough ways smooth. And all people will see God’s salvation.’” Lk: 3:4-6

If we make great effort to clear the roads, level pot holes and keep our environments descent because of the visit of ordinary human person either as ecclesiastical or civil authority.

What preparation shall we delve into when the author, redeemer and restorer of our lives announces His coming to visit us?. Our hearts are the spiritual road to God. How rugged, high and low is this road through which Jesus Christ is coming to visit us?

John the Baptist is calling for immediate grading of our hearts with repentance. Let all our irregularities and vices be purge out and fill our hearts with oil of devotion to God and noble virtues.

As we remove all spiritual obstruction in our hearts and family, may God grant us increase and abundance in all we do to promote living. Happy Second Sunday of Advent in Year C.

Fr Emmanuel Nwokeji is in union of prayers with you and your family.
