YEAR C: HOMILY FOR TUESDAY AFTER EPIPHANY
HOMILY THEME: LOVING WELL
BY: Rev Fr Joseph Nyarko Asare
HOMILY: (1 Jn 4:7-10/Ps 72/Mk 6:34-44)
Loving God is very essential for our growth and maturity. The disciples knew this and so followed the Lord in His entire ministry. Even where food was scarce, the 12 were ready to remain with Jesus.
The love of God makes it easier to love your neighbour. This is evident in the Gospel. The disciples, showing concern for the people, considered a way of creating comfort for the people. They wanted the people to eat before night and they made a move.
In order to love well, they consulted Jesus before implementing their plan. That is how we must love. At times, we do the wrong thing in our quest to love because we fail to consult the Lord. Even the best of our decisions must be surrendered to God’s perspective and viewpoint. When the Apostles did consult, Jesus intervened and gave the best solution. When we surrender all our plans about our loved ones to Jesus, we get the best for our friends and ourselves.
