27TH SUNDAY HOMILY IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR C

HOMILY THEME: LORD INCREASE OUR FAITH

BY: Fr. Cyril Unachukwu CCE

HOMILY: What would life be without God? And what would life look like without faith in God? There is God and He is the Father of all and the Creator of everything! He relates with us in the most intimate way! May our faith in God continue to grow stronger; Amen.

The depth of our relationship with God depend on our faith in Him!
It is in this light that we can understand the request of the disciples of our Lord in the Gospel (Luke 17:5-10); “Lord increase our faith.” In other words, ‘Lord deepen our relationship with you; our understanding of you; our love of you; our quest for you!’ This is so because faith is a relationship, a communion and an ascent to God. How deep is this relationship with God in your life? A life lived outside faith in God is futile, unproductive and sad! A life lived without faith in God is dead!

ALSO RECOMMENDED: HOMILY FOR THE 27TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

It is the certainty of this power of faith, the grace that flows from it that makes St Paul to remind Timothy in the Second Reading of today (2 Timothy 1:6-8,13-14) “I am reminding you to fan into a flame the gift that God gave you when I laid my hands on you.” It is only an activated faith that flourishes God’s gifts in us. A person of Faith is productive through the great impulse his/her faith inspires in him/her.

In the words of the First Reading (Habakkuk 1:2-3,2:2-4) “the upright man will live by his faithfulness.” Our faith in God reckons us as upright before God!
How deep is your faith? How intimate is your relationship with God? Where is your trust? What is standing between you and your Creator? To live without faith is not to have any personal relationship with God! Such a life is an abomination!

May God increase your faith in Him; may He increase my faith in Him! May He bring us closer and nearer to Him; Amen.

Happy Sunday.
