HOMILY BEFORE EPIPHANY, SATURDAY, YEAR B

THEME: You may have saved your life:

BY: Fr. Anthony O. Ezeaputa

Once upon a time, there was a successful businessman named John who was known for his ruthless tactics and lack of empathy towards others. He believed that only the strongest and smartest deserved to succeed, and he had no qualms about stepping on others to get ahead.

One day, John found himself in a life-threatening situation. He was in a car accident and was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. As he lay on the operating table, he realized that his life was in the hands of the medical team.

To his surprise, one of the nurses who was caring for him was a woman he had fired from his company just a few months prior. She had been struggling to make ends meet and was now working two jobs to support her family.

Despite this, she was treating John with kindness and compassion, just as she would any other patient.
John was overcome with shame and regret as he realized that his actions had caused harm to this woman and many others. He vowed to change his ways and treat everyone with respect and empathy from then on.

As he recovered and returned to his life, John made good on his promise. He became a mentor to young entrepreneurs, offered scholarships to underprivileged students, and even reconnected with the nurse who had saved his life, offering her a job at his company with a generous salary and benefits.

John’s story spread like wildfire, inspiring others to treat everyone with kindness and respect, regardless of their background or circumstances. He proved that even the hardest hearts can change and that the way we treat others can have a profound impact on our own lives and the lives of those around us.

Remember, you never know when someone’s life may depend on you tomorrow. Treat everyone with kindness and respect today, and you may just save a life in the future.

Happy weekend
