Many struggle to comprehend how Jesus can be both fully God and fully man. He has human ancestry tracing back to King David, which is why he is referred to as the son of David (Luke 1:32). However, Jesus goes beyond being just the son of David; he is the Messiah with a divine origin. His divine origin is proved in Scripture where David addresses him as Lord (Psalm 110:1). His divinity is further expressed in John 1:1, stating that the Word was with God and was God from the beginning.

Jesus challenged his listeners against their wrong notions about him, especially that notion which sees him as only human. He asked, “David himself calls him Lord; so how is he his son?” (Mark 12:37). Therefore, the Messiah (Jesus) is not only a descendant of David but also David’s Lord and the long-awaited Messiah.
Today, there are numerous erroneous perceptions of Jesus. Some view him as merely a historical figure, while others consider hima legend or myth. Some regard him as a wise and virtuous man without recognizing his divinity. There are also those who see him as a means to material prosperity, health, and wealth.

However, Christians believe that Jesus is the Son of God, the second person of the Holy Trinity, fully God and fully human. He is the promised Messiah and the King of Kings. How will you answer Jesus’ question:Who do you say that I am?
