HOMILY FOR MONDAY OF THE 4TH WEEK OF EASTER

Intention for the Day: Prayer that we may not constitute obstacles to God’s grace in the life of the people. Amen.

BY: Fr. Cyril Akindele Osadare

HOMILY: Readings: Acts 11:1-18; John 10:1-10

The tap is a very useful instrument because it helps water flow but when it is blocked or locked, it becomes as worse as anything. The wire is also very essential as it help us connect current. But when it breaks, it is worse as it distort the flow of current. Likewise, those other conduction materials. An opaque material doesn’t allow flow of light. That’s what we mustn’t become in our life. We mustn’t be obstacles destroying the flow of God’s graces to the people.

In the first reading, Peter couldn’t stop God’s grace and his Holy Spirit to the people. He who God has decided to bless, who are you to stop them. The Jews who are criticising Peter were doing so not out of love of God but out of personal and ethnic bigotry. That’s why Jesus declared that anyone who doesn’t pass the gate is a thief and arm robber. The gate is a place that allows people to have access to a place. My dear friends, are u a gateway or an obstacle. As a good shepherd influencing people, our words, actions and inactions must not stop people from experiencing God but help them to encounter God. We cannot be fighting for God, we only fight for ourselves, our ego, our stomach and our interest. Because God’s interest is that all be saved and experience the goodness of God.

May nothing stop the goodness of God from reaching us today. Amen.
