THEME: Let God in!

BY: Rev Fr Oselumhense Anetor (Uromi Diocese).

Acts 6:1-7; John 6:16-21

In today’s first reading, food was not being distributed properly, especially to the Hellenist widows. The Apostles were wise enough not to distract themselves from their primary function; prayer and the service of preaching the word of God. They knew they couldn’t do everything. So they let God direct them by allowing the people select seven men of good repute, filled with the Holy Spirit and wisdom, to aid them. These were the first deacons.

RELATED: REFLECTION FOR SATURDAY OF 2ND WEEK OF EASTER.

Friends, we must never allow ourselves be carried away, or deceived into thinking we can do everything either. No matter how skilled the disciples were at rowing, they were still overwhelmed by the storm. They got distracted for a moment when they saw Jesus walking on water. But Jesus tells them, “It is I, do not be afraid.” He says the same to us today. We must learn to let God and those he sends to us, help us all the time, especially when we’re overwhelmed by the storms of life. Let Jesus into the boat of your life today. You’ll immediately see the difference!

Good morning dear. God bless your weekend.
