*INTRODUCTION*
Good morning dear brothers and sisters in Christ, today we celebrate Wednesday of week 13 in Ordinary Time, Year A.

*ABOUT OUR FIRST READING*
In our first reading today, we heard about the story of the conflict that arose between Ishmael, the firstborn son of Abraham from his mother Hagar, a slave owned by Sarah, Abraham’s wife, and Isaac, the son that Sarah herself had borne for Abraham, the son that God had promised Abraham.

*ABOUT OUR GOSPEL READING*
In the gospel reading Jesus is met by two very disturbed people. They were so disturbed that they lived among the tombs and no one would pass that way for fear of them. Jesus, however, was not afraid of them, even though they initially addressed him in a very aggressive way. Undisturbed by their aggression, Jesus went on to heal them and to restore them to themselves and to the community. Jesus’ power to give life was stronger than the power to damage, destroy and disturb which he confronted.

*CONCLUSION*
The risen Lord’s life-giving power at work in our lives is stronger than the forces in our world which dehumanize and damage. That is why we need alays to be people of hope. The Lord at work among us and through us can do immeasurably more than all we ask. Let us try to keep doing the Lord’s life-giving work, regardless of how it is received by others.
Lord in your mercy hear our prayers of this day.

Fr Deotacious Chikontwe SMA.
