Mt 1: 1 – 16. 18 – 23.

I am a member of my particular family, but all humanity is united as one family in God. Through Mary and Joseph, Jesus was cared for. Mary’s birth brought love, consolation, unity, holiness and grace. I celebrate her birthday today by promising to live this ordinary life in pursuing holiness just like her. What actions of mine show my respect for life, especially the unborn? Am I living out the purpose for which God created me?

LET US PRAY
May Mary’s birth help me to remember that I too was born as a member of God’s household, and that I was conceived to care for the spiritual and material needs of God’s children. Like Mary, may my being give life and sweetness fragrance wherever I go. Help me to offer up little annoyances and to spend a little more extra time in prayer and charitable deeds. Mary, mother of God, pray for me. Amen.
