THURSDAY HOMILY, 4TH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME – YEA
THURSDAY HOMILY, 4TH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME – YEAR B
THEME: Where are the apostles?
BY: Rev Fr Oselumhense Anetor
I Kings 2:1-4,10-12; Mark 6:7-13
On this day, many years ago, I woke up with a question in my head. Do I consider myself sent? An apostle is one who is sent; one sent with a message to others. Jesus sent out his twelve Apostles today in pairs. He wanted them to trust only in him who sent them. And he wanted them to preach repentance to the lost house of Israel.

Similarly, in the first reading, just before David goes to join his ancestors, he summons his son Solomon, and gives him charge to observe the injunctions of the Lord, following his ways and keeping his laws, his commandments, his customs and his decrees, as it stands written in the Law of Moses. Friends, do we see ourselves as people sent with a message; to feed the hungry, give drink to the thirsty, clothe the naked, harbour the homeless… to make the world a better place? The world is waiting for us to be the apostles of our time. Have we tried and failed before now? We must get up and keep trying. That’s our mandate!
Good morning dear. God bless your day ahead. And Happy New Month!
