HOMILY: READINGS: ACTS 3:1-10, PSALM 105, LUKE 24:13-35

MY PRAYER
• That we encounter Christ as did the cripple at the beautiful gate
• That he gives us what will benefit us and not really what we want
• That he accompanies us on our life’s journeys
• That he opens our eyes to see him as he truly is hence love and serve him always.
• God bless and aid us FEED the hungry and cater for the poor around us

Today, Christ engages Cleopas and his friend in an expose of scripture, proving to them that he was to undergo all he did before conquering death and returning to life (Lk. 24:13-35). Today too, in the name of the resurrected Christ, Peter cures an invalid who was born lame to the praise and glory of God. Friends, that the resurrection is a reality becomes indubitable given the aforementioned facts as reflected by all the evangelists. Besides, that the resurrection means everything to the Christian cannot be overemphasized. The apostles regained their courage and missionary zeal at the instance of Jesus’ resurrection. They no longer hid themselves cowardly but came all out preaching and witnessing to the resurrected Christ. Indeed, it was their source of strength and vigour.

Beloved in Christ, I desire that we believe undoubtedly, the resurrection of Christ; for without it, I’d be no minister and you’d definitely not be Christ’s faithful. I pray that he comes to us revealing himself to us and so, strengthening our faith and trust in him. I pray too that he journeys with us as he did to Cleopas and his friend, enlightening us and giving more meaning to our Christian vocation. May I pray he opens our eyes so that we too, through our daily partaking of the Most Holy Eucharist, may come to recognize him thereby endear ourselves more to him. Let me also pray that our words and actions may make others come to praise and worship him. Amen.
