HOMILY FOR MONDAY 1ST WEEK IN LENT – YEAR B

THEME: The Promise of Paradise!

BY: Rev Fr Oselumhense Anetor

Lev.19:1-2,11-18; Matt.25:31-46

All the good we do here on earth is so that we can hear the words, “come, you whom the Father has blessed, take for your heritage the Kingdom prepared for you since the foundation of the world.” So there’s no need to steal or be fraudulent, no need to swear falsely, or refuse the labourer his/her wages; no point in cursing the dumb, or putting an obstacle in the blind man’s path. We must not give partial verdicts or talk ill behind people. We must get rid of hatred and malice, refuse to bear grudges and not wait for an opportunity to be vengeful.

Friends, whether we like it or not, a time will come when the Son of man will appear in all His glory. This is the time when He will separate the sheep from the goats. So when we move around today, we must try to see Christ’s face in everyone, especially those who have no food to eat, no water to drink, no clothes to wear, no home to sleep in; we must visit Christ in the sick, and in those in prison, for whatsoever we do to the least of our brothers and sisters, we do unto God. The good we do today for Christ’s sake will assure us a place on His right hand on the day of judgement. Are you with me?

Good morning dear. God bless your week ahead.
