HOMILY FOR SATURDAY OCTAVE EASTER [YEAR B]

THEME: Refuse to be stopped!

BY: Reflection by Rev Fr Oselumhense Anetor

Acts 4:13-21; Mark 16:9-15

The true disciple does not bend to the whims and caprices of human beings. He or she is chiefly accountable to God alone. Peter and John had performed a miracle that the Jews and elders couldn’t deny. They had gone further to preach to all the people that it was by the power in the name of Jesus Christ, whom the Jews crucified, that this miracle was made possible. The elders knew it was a lost battle, so they began to threaten the Apostles. They failed!

Friends, a disciple of truth, justice and fairness can’t be stopped. People will summon you and threaten you when you stake out your neck to resist evil. You’ll become a thorn that must be eradicated, a pest that must be exterminated. Do not be afraid. You have God for your help. Refuse to be stopped. The mandate hasn’t changed; “Go into the whole world, and proclaim the gospel to every creature.” Our world today needs fearless and committed Apostles. This is a clarion call to you and to me. Can I get a witness?

Good morning dear. God bless your weekend, as we anticipate Divine Mercy Sunday. Amen.
