HOMILY FOR SATURDAY OF 4TH WEEK OF EASTER.

THEME: WHO IS JESUS?

BY: FR. GERALD M. MUSA.

Philip had difficulty in knowing Jesus and so he said to Jesus: “Show us the Father, and we shall be satisfied.” Jesus answered, “Have I been with you so long and yet, you do not know me, Philip? He who has seen me has seen the Father” (John 14:8-9). Truly, Jesus is the image of the invisible God. To see, hear and know Jesus is to see, hear and know God. The words and works of Jesus reveal who God is.

The more we imitate Jesus, the more the image of God manifests in us. Since the creation of the world, only Jesus rightly and categorically declares himself as the Way, Truth, and Life. He adds, No one comes to the Father (God), but by me” (John 14:6). No human being ever showed a more perfect way to the Father (God) other than Jesus. Knowing Jesus helps us to proclaim him better.

St. Josemaria Escriva says, “This is the only way to get to know Jesus: speak to him. You will always find in Him a Father, a Friend, an Adviser, a Helper in all the noble deeds of your everyday life. And getting to know Him will give rise to Love” (Furrow, 662). What efforts are we making towards knowing Jesus who is the way, truth, and life?
