Loving Shepherd of thy sheep, keep us all, in safety keep; nothing can thy power withstand, none can pluck us from thy hand.

HOMILY FOR THE 4TH TUESDAY OF EASTER YEAR B

HOMILY THEME: BARNABAS, THE GOOD MAN

Acts of the Apostles 4:37, Acts 11:19-26, John 10:22-30

BY: Bishop Gerald M. Musa

We live in a world where goodness is rare, compassion is minimal, and sensitivity is waning. The Psalmist laments this reality, but amidst the darkness, there are rare gems like Barnabas, described in scripture as a good man full of the Holy Spirit and faith.

Barnabas, whose name means ‘son of encouragement,’ lived up to his name through selfless service and a positive attitude. He sold his property and gave the proceeds to the Apostles, believing in the people of Antioch and bringing out their best qualities.

To emulate Barnabas, cultivate kindness, excellent character, and selflessness. Be like him in encouraging others and identifying their strengths rather than faults. Reflect on who your Barnabas is and how often you serve as one to others.
