*INTRODUCTION*
Good morning my dear brothers and sisters in Christ, today we celebrate the Easter Monday, also know known as the Monday within the Octave of Easter, or the Galilee Monday.

ALSO RECOMMENDED: HOMILY FOR EASTER MONDAY.

*FROM OUR FIRST READING*
In our first reading today, we heard of Saint Peter the Apostle who stood firmly before all the people assembled in Jerusalem during the time of the Festival of the Pentecost, when many people came to Jerusalem from all over the Jewish diaspora. All of the people were astonished at the great wisdom and courage showed by the Apostles and the other disciples, who have received the Holy Spirit descending upon them, giving them the strength and the wisdom to speak out their minds, with the Divine guidance and providence, proclaiming everything that they themselves had witnessed about the Risen Lord, the glorious Resurrection of the Saviour, His mission and how He has called on all the whole world to follow Him.

*FROM OUR GOSPEL READING*
In the gospel reading from Matthew that we have just heard, the women, who were first to the tomb on Easter Sunday and found it empty, are also the first to whom the risen Lord appeared. This group of women are the primary witnesses to the resurrection, the first to proclaim the good news that Jesus is risen and that he will meet his disciples in Galilee. In contrast to this group of women, the gospel reading presents the chief priests and the elders of the people paying off the soldiers who guarded the tomb so that they would propagate the lie that Jesus’ body was stolen by his disciples. The women proclaim the truth of the gospel; the group of men in the gospel reading proclaim a lie.

*CONCLUSION*
Dear brethrens, we are all being asked to identify with the group of women. They were faithful to Jesus; they were present during his public ministry, at the cross and at the tomb. Because of their faithfulness, they are sent out as messengers of Easter joy. Our faithfulness will prompt the Lord to send us out too as messengers of Easter joy and hope, proclaiming Easter good news, the triumph of life over death, of God’s love over human sin. We are all called to be heralds of the truth of Easter, messengers of hope, disciples who announce by our lives that the light of the risen Lord shines in the darkness and the darkness does not overcome it.
