HOMILY: MONDAY 2ND WEEK IN ADVENT [YEAR B]

FRIDAY 3RD WEEK IN ADVENT - HOMILY - YEAR B

HOMILY: MONDAY 2ND WEEK IN ADVENT [YEAR B]

THEME: Strengthen all weary hands!

By: Rev Fr Oselumhense Anetor (Uromi Diocese).

Is.35:1-10; Luke 5:17-26

Have you ever felt like your life is embedded in the saying “the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak?” Well, there’s good news for you. Hear what Isaiah says, “strengthen all weary hands, steady all trembling knees, and say to all faint hearts, ‘Courage! Do not be afraid. Look your God is coming…” For everyone who’s willing, the story shall be different. Open hearts shall receive Jesus and sin shall lose hold, darkness shall be dispelled, sorrow shall be a thing of the past…

When Jesus saw a paralytic in the gospel reading of today, and saw the faith of those who brought him through the roof, he forgave the man’s sins. This was more important than anything else. But to prove to the people that he had authority to indeed forgive sins, he went on to physically strengthen the man’s limbs. Friends, make no mistakes about it. God is more interested in strengthening our spiritual limbs. But this doesn’t mean he cares less about our physical state. All hands on deck fellas. Steady! Steady! Push till something positive happens, for our Lord is coming.

Good morning dear. God bless your week ahead.
