SATURDAY HOMILY 4TH WEEK OF LENT – YEAR B

THEME: No one has spoken like Him!

BY: Rev Fr Oselumhense Anetor

Jer. 11:18-20; John 7:40-52

Jesus confounded people by his way of life. He was too good to be true. He spoke words that pierced them straight to the heart. Hence they could not decide what to do with him. They could not be sure whether to love or hate him. Even the police officers sent to arrest him went and returned without him, but with a testimony that, ‘there has never been anybody who has spoken like him.’ Interesting!

Friends, I can imagine how difficult it must be for us to stand for truth and righteousness sometimes; how impossible it must seem to witness to Christ in a world like ours. Jeremiah must have felt this kind of frustration. But like the Pharisees, even so-called authorities can be wrong sometimes. Yes! In the end, it suffices to take refuge in God, and trust him completely. Our persecutors may conclude because of the single story they heard about us, but be not discouraged. The words we speak are spirit and life. The world may sometimes misunderstand that. But be not discouraged!

Good morning dear. God bless your weekend.
