HOMILY FOR FRIDAY OF THE SECOND WEEK OF EASTER, YEAR B

HOMILY THEME: THE WISDOM OF GAMALIEL!

BY: FR. OSELUMHENSE ANETOR

Acts 5:34-42; John 6:1-15

In today’s first reading, Gamaliel isn’t too sure what they are dealing with, so he asks the Sanhedrin to be careful how they deal with the Apostles. He then goes on to make a powerful statement: “if this enterprise, this movement of theirs is of human origin, it will break up of its own accord, but if it does in fact come from God, you will not only be unable to destroy them, but you might find yourselves fighting against God.”

Friends, no one can fight against God, or those who’ve dedicated their lives to Him. Let’s not get carried away with our own wishes that we forget our place. We must not struggle so much to suppress and destroy what we don’t fully understand because its existence is a threat to our egos. Caution is always the watchword. The same God who was able to feed the five thousand, is, and will always be in CHARGE.

God bless your weekend ahead.
