My Yoke Is Easy, And My Burden Is Light (Matthew 11:28-30)

Unlike the yoke of sin which only enslaves man and fills him with emptiness, the yoke of Jesus brings peace.

My Yoke Is Easy, And My Burden Is Light (Matthew 11:28-30)

“Come to me, all who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

Unlike the yoke of sin which only enslaves man and fills him with emptiness, the yoke of Jesus brings peace. Unlike the yoke of sin which gives a reward of death, the yoke of Jesus gives eternal happiness.

Rather than being weighed down by the heavy yoke of sin, ignorance and all its repercussions, put on the yoke of Jesus! Gladly put it on because it is lighter than all other yokes. The yoke of Jesus brings peace and joy. The yoke of Jesus leads to eternal life in heaven.

Putting on the yoke of Jesus implies learning the ways of Jesus and obeying him.

He advises us to learn from him who is gentle and lowly in heart. The virtue of humility makes the heaviest cross light. Through the virtue of humility, victory is ours. A man who is humble becomes automatically invincible to the devil. No stone that the devil throws reaches him.

Leave your worries to Jesus because he cares for you. He would make your worries his worries and your joys his own joy. He’ll make every cross light and make trials bearable.

Meditate on the teachings of Jesus daily, learn God’s ways and incorporate it in your daily lives. You’ll see that the God will make all your burdens light.
