TUESDAY HOMILY, 2ND WEEK OF ADVENT – YEAR B
THEME: SEEKING THE LOST

Each person is precious, special, and valuable in the sight of God. It is not surprising that God is ready to do all things, at all costs to seek and rescue anyone who is lost. Jesus says, “So it is not the will of my Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones should perish” (Matthew 18:14). He asks, “If a man has a hundred sheep and one of them goes astray, does he not leave the ninety-nine on the hill and go in search of the one that went astray?” This may sound illogical, but this is how the wisdom of God works.

Each person is unique and important before God. In our world, we rank people by their class, status, background, positions in society, or the wealth they have acquired. We live in a world where people are silently classified into two major classes: Most Valuable People (MVP) and Less Valuable People (LVP).
God does not discriminate but cares for little ones those rejected by society, the lowly who are pushed to the fringes. Parents, Pastoral agents, and leaders should learn the loving approach of Jesus towards straying sheep. Jesus teaches us that even the strayed members of the family, congregation, or community are important and valuable. What effort do we make in searching for people who wander away and how much care do we show to the lowly and those rejected by society?
