Woke from sleep with the memory of two soldiers who visited me during a counseling session requesting for prayers as they prepare to move to Borno State, Nigeria in the battle against the Islamic Fundamentalists Insurgency following their recent redeployment.

I read an unspeakably tension on their faces and was moved by the remark made by one of them; “Fr, we have signed death by our profession as military men so we are ready to go.”

A Christian is a soldier of Christ. A Christian must be ready to go to war against evil and ready to die fighting for righteousness. However, there are numerous civilians in Christendom today! Christians who will not identify with Christ’s cross but with his glory.

Do we still have soldiers in the Church today?
How many soldiers are left?
